Round up: I am here honest!
30/06/09 :: Posted by RobI am here, and I do care! Seriously this past few months have been a little mental… So whats been going on I hear you cry? or maybe not…
Hopefully for some of the poor unfortunates who must be bored enough to read my drivel, you may find this interesting – if you don’t, I apologise!
Well firstly I have been moderating the CSS-Tricks forums for a good while now, but last month I was asked to take a larger role in the forums by owner Chris Coyier. Chris seems to be able to do everything, he has countless sites up, has written a book and is constantly either writing blogs or being interviewed. If that was not all he has a full time job too, so there has to be a limit to the amount of hours in the day. He ask asked me to take some of that weight off his shoulders, and perhaps in not his finest moment of judgement, given me admin of the forums. Its actually great, and I have been able to add more people to the mod list to help combat the evils of the spam poster. So I have been making sure I am there a every day…
Also I have now been given the task of leading forth the #EDCTH (Euro Design Community Twitter Hours). Chad Engle asked me to take on this mantle to enable people from other parts of the world who could not really make it to the normal #DCTH. So its not strictly euro only, its just its set around a decent UK time instead of being at midnight. Please do come along, you can follow it from twitter in tweetchat.com with the hashtag #EDCTH.
Talking of DCTH, I was also featured here!
Bitrebels is another thing that I am doing at the moment, posting regularly is strange for me (as you can see) but I am actually really enjoying making small posts that hopefully amuse you guys! We hope to grow bitrebels in to a community and are looking at some cool ideas for the very near future – stay tuned! bitrebels.com.
So other than all of that I am also taking on new work, I have been working with Andrea, she has been using my awesome (hehe) coding abilities to bring her fabulous designs to the web, have a few more things on going with her too which is really nice to be working almost in a virtual office. I do have another project on the boil which I will let you all know about if and when it happens.
I am also learning OOP PHP, with the help of Robert Banh and Jason lengst who have been very helpful and patient in dealing with my “issues”.
I also have a jQuery tutorial half written in this blog, so expect to see that very soon as I really need to publish it! I have also been toying with the idea of doing a video blog post type thing, mainly because Marc Perel keeps encouraging me to do so…
I hope that has been an interesting insight into whats been going down in the Altered Aspect in the past month or so, if you got this far, well done!
